Trust Trauma

Trust Trauma

As Americans, we have trust issues. I’ve heard it and I’m sure you’ve heard the words, “I don’t trust.”

We all have had some trust trauma especially in relationships.

When I first had the experience being cheated, I did break up with the guy but wound up letting him to talk me into reconciling the relationship months later. But it just wasn’t the same because the trust was breached and I was traumatized.

In the back of my mind I just didn’t trust him. He couldn’t understand that when someone breaks trust, it’s their responsibility to build it back up. He wanted me to go back to trusting him like I did before the breach and I couldn’t. So the relationship died because there was no trust.

You gotta have trust in your relationship otherwise, it won’t work.

This is why some people have a hard time trusting God because of their trust trauma from people. They view God like they view people. But God is not like people. God is trustworthy, He’s not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19). It’s not that God won’t lie, He can’t. It’s not His nature. God’s word is bond. His word won’t return void so you can bank on it.

I’ve heard guys say I don’t trust women and Ive heard females say I don’t trust men. One thing I’ve learned is that a lot of people who say they don’t trust other people is because they can’t be trusted.

When you meet somebody, you aren’t supposed to trust them automatically.

Trust has to be earned.

Eagles are my favorite animal. I did a study on them and learned a very interesting thing about the female Eagle on how they choose their mate:

First, I like the fact that it said the female eagle chooses because men think they got the power. Sorry fellas, you don’t! Ladies, you really have the power and I’ll tell you why.

It doesn't matter how much a man likes you, tries to pursue you, nothing happens until you say yes, nothing's gonna move until you say yes. The bible says that wives are to submit to their husbands. Well Ladies, God is telling you that you get to choose who you wan’t to submit to, so don’t submit to a fool.

The power is yours Ladies. Choose wisely!

Back to the female eagle. What she does is, she tests the male eagle before she trusts. She does this by taking a stick up in the air approximately 8 to 10 thousand feet high and drops it and the male eagle has to catch the stick before it touches the ground.

The male then has to return the stick to the female. The female eagle does it again but each time she flies a little lower and faster with a larger stick. She continues this practice until she is less than 500 feet from the ground dropping the stick. If the male doesn't catch the stick, the female chases the male off.

However, if he does catch the stick, that lets the female eagle know that he can handle catching the eaglets while teaching them to fly. Only then will the female eagle allow the male eagle to mate with her!

Isn’t that good ladies???

When I read that I said, “wow God, the eagles have more sense than some of us humans.” Some people, especially women, will meet a man today, and tomorrow they giving him keys to the car and the house.

The female eagle shows us that she ain’t desperate to just settle and trust every male eagle that comes along winking at her. She tests before she trusts. The female eagle also shows us that in her testing of the males eagle that she trusts his  hand before she trusts his heart.

Ladies and Gents! You gotta test before you trust.

Some people think you are obligated to trust them right off the bat. Don’t just trust what someone says just because they say it. You want to see that they can be trusted.

The bible says that we are obligated to love, not trust. Proverbs 3:5 KJV says, “Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart.”

Notice it doesn't say people, but the Lord. Trust from people must be earned.

You have to be mindful of your actions because they will either bank trust or breach trust.
